My current role
I am a consultant general surgeon and I was lead clinician for upper GI surgery from 2001 to 2021. I established the Cambridge Oesophago-gastric Centre in 2001. We are now a team of seven surgeons.
I contribute to the general surgery emergency rota and operate on patients with gallstones and hernias.
Previous history
I was a senior lecturer in surgery in Cardiff from 1999 to 2001 and before this a lecturer in surgery in Bristol where I did most of my senior training. I was President of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons in Great Britain and Ireland from 2017 to 2019
