My current role
I look after children with solid tumours (outside the brain).
In addition to my clinical work, I lead a research effort into the origins of childhood cancer at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
I am Clinical Professor of Paediatric Oncology in the University Department of Paediatrics and Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
Previous history
Originally from Germany, I read medicine at Oxford and trained in paediatrics (with subspecialty training in oncology) in London and Cambridge. At the same time I have pursued an academic career and have built a major research effort into the origins of childhood cancer.
