My current role
As a consultant gastroenterologist I work with intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation and also supporting the general gastroenterology and medicine ward cover. I lead a national referral centre for refractory coeliac disease. I provide upper and lower endoscopy services including bowel cancer screening.
Previous history
I have been working as a consultant in Addenbrooke's since 2002, having trained in hospitals in London and Birmingham.
Membership/accreditations
I sit on the Research Advisory Board and the Health Advisory Council of Coeliac UK, as well as the British Society of Gastroenterology small bowel and nutrition committee, and the British Intestinal failure Alliance committee. I am a member of the Transplantation Society, the European Pancreatic club, and the British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
Personal interests
I am a keen naturalist (moths, butterflies, birds, reptiles and amphibians) and I am a member of the British Society of Herpetology and also the Captain Cook Society. I enjoy classical music and hold a performance diploma from the Royal College of Music (ARCM).
