My current role
My clinical work is based at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with my research group housed in the Health Systems Design Group in the department of engineering. The majority of my research is focussed on resource-poor settings in the global south, both through academic collaboration and an ongoing partnership with the World Health Organisation's trauma operational and advisory team, but also involves projects focussed on the improvement of NHS services.
Through Cambridge Global Health Partnerships and the NIHR Global Health Research Groups on both neurotrauma and acquired brain and spine injury, I have worked with partners in Myanmar since 2013, and in Uganda since 2020.
Previous history
I hold degrees in biochemistry, medicine, and engineering from the universities of Oxford, London, and Cambridge respectively, qualifying clinically in 2007 from St George’s hospital medical school. I completed foundation and core training in London based at UCLH, working with VSO in Ethiopia during a career break in 2011, before moving to Cambridge as an Academic Clinical Fellow in 2013 to complete speciality training in anaesthesia. After obtaining my PhD in 2021 I completed a clinical lecturer position at the University of Cambridge before being appointed to my substantive clinical and academic positions.
