Dr Chris White

Staff governor

Governors

My current role

I was elected as a Staff Governor in July 2024 for my first three-year term.

In my capacity as a Staff Governor, I am dedicated to ensuring that Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) incorporates staff ideas and feedback into its current and future plans. CUH has the potential to recruit outstanding staff, and it is crucial that staff views are represented at Governors' meetings, as they have an unparalleled understanding of the Trust's performance.

I am responsible for overseeing the Cambridge IVF unit, which is part of CUH. It comprises a mix of clinicians, scientists, and support staff. Our team is exceptional, and due to their efforts, the service competes very successfully with commercial IVF clinics.

Previous history

My journey in the NHS began in Cornwall as the Operations and HR Director for the community, mental health, and eldercare Trust. Since then, I have primarily worked in acute care settings and for the Department of Health, where I was responsible for the team monitoring NHS performance for the South of England. Additionally, I have held Managing Director roles in private healthcare.

I am hoping that my board and Department of Health experience will assist me in the role of holding the Non-Executive Directors to account. I have a particular interest in performance and analysis and the importance of focusing on measures that make the most difference.

Personal interests

I am married and live in Cambridgeshire. Much of my time is spent helping my wife compete and train our horse. Thanks to horses I have experience of multiple A&E departments. Most of my family are either in teaching or healthcare.
