A guide for outpatients
This leaflet has been designed to answer some of the common questions you may have following your procedure.
There are various types of tubes which may need changing, for example a gastrostomy feeding tube or a nephrostomy tube in the kidney.
Post procedure
We recommend you do not undertake strenuous activity and rest for the remainder of the day of the procedure.
Can I drive home afterwards?
Yes.
Possible problems
There is a slight risk of an infection developing at the site of the procedure. If you feel unwell, contact your GP.
Medications
If you take blood thinners, you may restart them after the procedure.

Privacy & Dignity
Same sex bays and bathrooms are offered in all wards except critical care and theatre recovery areas where the use of high-tech equipment and/or specialist one-to-one care is required.
We are smoke-free
