Why do I need these exercises?

You may have reduced movement in your lips. This can cause difficulties with eating, drinking or speaking. These exercises can help your lip movement. Using a mirror can help.

How do I carry out the exercises?

Repeat each exercise ____________ times

  • Stretch your lips as if you are smiling. Hold for five seconds.

  • Round your lips as if you are blowing. Hold for five seconds.

  • Change between stretching and rounding your lips.

  • Puff your cheeks out. Hold for five seconds.

  • Press your lips together firmly. Hold for five seconds.

  • Hold a toothbrush or a straw between your lips. Press your lips together firmly. Hold for five seconds.

  • Round your lips as if blowing. Push against a toothbrush. Hold for five seconds.

  • Practice saying “p-p-p”

When should I do these exercises?

It is best to practice these exercises on a regular basis for short periods of time.
