Elbow Range of Movement Exercises

Introduction

Flexion:

Bend your elbow as much as you can

Use your opposite hand to guide the movement if needed aiming your palm towards your shoulder

You can give an additional gentle push at the end of your range using your opposite hand and hold for _________seconds.

Stand, bend your elbow then straighten your elbow.

Repeat___ times

Sets:

Supination (palm up) and Pronation (palm down):

Sit or stand with elbow bent to around 90 degrees and tucked into your side

Turn your palm to face upwards as much as you can taking care not to move your body

Turn palm to face downwards

Repeat ____ times.

Extension:

Place your palms against a wall

Keeping your palms in contact with the wall, move your body away so that your arms straighten.

Once your arms are as straight as you can get them push your palms into the wall and hold for ____seconds.

Repeat ____ times.

Progression:

Use one arm at a time to make this harder.

Wall push up:

Place palms flat on the wall, elbows bent, feet away from the wall (the further away you are the harder the exercise will be)

Keeping your palms in contact with the wall slowly straighten your arms so your body moves away from the wall then slowly bend your arms and lower your body back to the wall

Repeat _____ times.
