Colorectal new patient follow up clinic

Welcome to the colorectal new patient follow up clinic.

We see newly diagnosed colorectal and anal cancer patients.

The purpose of this leaflet is to give information to new patients who may be contacted by the Oncology clinical nurse specialist (CNS) team via telephone after their initial appointment.

A member of the CNS team would normally be present at your initial oncology clinic appointment with the consultant to discuss the treatment options available to you.

Due to Covid 19 the Trust have issued guidelines to minimise the numbers of people in the clinic room. Therefore, the Oncology clinical nurse specialist is not always present and instead, at this consultation, you will receive a blue folder containing our contact details.

To ensure that you feel well supported during your treatment, we will contact you on your agreed number during the week following your consultation. During this conversation we will introduce members of the team, explain our role and answer any questions you may have at this time regarding your forthcoming treatment.

We have an answer-phone as we are often working away from our desks, but we encourage people to leave messages and we endeavour to respond within 48 hours for any non-urgent concerns.

Privacy and dignity

Same sex bays and bathrooms are offered in all wards except critical care and theatre recovery areas where the use of high-tech equipment and / or specialist one to one care is required.
