Who is it for?
This service is for anyone over the age of 16 and who has medical paperwork or a request for blood tests placed on the hospital computer system confirming they need a blood test. Anyone without one of these will be turned away.
Please note that there is a maximum vehicle height of 1.98m (6' 6") and we cannot accept walk-ins, motorbikes or bicycles for safety reasons.
How it works
Patients drive up to one of the five clinical stations, roll down their car window and have their blood taken by a trained professional, known as a phlebotomist.
To improve this service due to a high volume of patients attending ,we have introduced a ticketing system. Ticketing gives patients a better understanding of wait times and helps us manage traffic flow on site.
As well as providing blood tests for Addenbrooke’s, the service can also be used by GP surgeries and medical practices locally to help them cope with patient demand.
Opening times
The drop-in service is available between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Fridays excluding bank holidays.
We are unable to see patients after 4.30 pm due to the last blood collection by the laboratory courier at 4.45 pm
Due to a high volume of patients from both CUH and GP’s you may experience long wait times as unfortunately we are limited to the amount of patients we can see due to Service capacity
We ask all patients and visitors to the site to be kind, courteous and respectful at all times.
We have a zero tolerance for aggression to our staff and volunteers.

The hospital will continue to offer on-site phlebotomy services to patients on wards or attending clinics at the hospital.
