An Orthoptic appointment will take 40 minutes, and will include a medical and eye history, vision testing and a thorough investigation of the eye movements, including some measurements of the eye positioning and how the eyes work together.
There may be a method of alleviating the symptoms of double vision, such as the use of prisms (temporary or permanent), patches or eye muscle surgery. The Orthoptist works very closely with the consultant Ophthalmologist to ensure symptoms are alleviated with appropriate management.
