Renal anaemia management

Kidney (renal)

The renal anaemia service provides advice, guidance and a range of treatments to patients who are experiencing anaemia related to their renal condition and who are either on dialysis or attend Nephrology, Transplant, Low Clearance or joint Diabetic/Nephrology clinics.

Information for patients

Patients are referred to the renal anaemia team when blood results indicate that they would benefit from treatment for their anaemia. Once referred, the anaemia team will review results and contact patients to discuss treatment options. We do not run an anaemia clinic. We contact patients over the phone to discuss treatment options and arrange face to face visits when necessary.

Referral information

Patients are referred to the renal anaemia service by their kidney Doctor after being seen at clinic or via an advice and guidance request from their GP.
