Colorectal service

Surgical Teams

The colorectal clinical nurse specialists ensure continuity of care and offer specialist support, education and advice for patients and their families following their diagnosis of colorectal cancer.

The colorectal specialist nurses will sometimes be referred to as your key worker.

They are available to support you in a clinic setting and over the telephone, with both verbal and written information, and are dedicated to providing high quality, holistic, patient centred care.

What does a colorectal specialist nurse's role involve?

  • Offering specialist advice and support from diagnosis, through treatment to life after cancer treatment.
  • Acting as a link between you and the consultant / colorectal team.
  • Leading and coordinating cancer surveillance and nurse led follow up.
  • Psychological support and wellbeing.
  • Providing open access to the colorectal nursing service for life.
