The bereavement care team are a small dedicated team committed to providing help with the practical issues faced when dealing with a recent death. The bereavement care team work alongside the medical examiner’s service who provide an independent review of all deaths within the Trust.
If you are with your loved one at the time of death you should receive a booklet entitled: Bereavement: Information and Guidance following your Bereavement. This booklet provides assistance and guidance on the next steps.

Opening times
Our bereavement care office is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 - 16:00 excluding bank holidays.
On the first working day after your loved one has died, we request that you contact the bereavement care team on 01223 217537 after 08.30. Please be aware that the office can be busy after a weekend / bank holiday, however, there is an answerphone facility so please do leave a message, and be reassured we will endeavour to return your call as soon as possible.
The hospital is now able to facilitate a chapel viewing in our Woodland Suite. Please contact our mortuary team on 01223 217106, Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:00. Outside of these hours, please contact the hospital switchboard on 01223 245151 / 01223 805000 and ask to speak with the on-call mortuary technician.
