We met Heok Cheow, consultant in radiology and nuclear medicine, to find out more about his role at CUH.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Reading radiology images, like a detective hunting for an answer for a patient’s condition.
Tell us a bit about your CUH journey.
I joined CUH 17 years ago as a consultant after spending two years as a senior registrar in sub-specialty nuclear medicine training.
What does a usual day look like?
I start around 07:00 with reporting, preparing or involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings. My day finishes around 18:00.
Tell us about a case study that really stands out to you.
A complex case referral from another hospital as a second opinion regarding a pituitary tumour (a small endocrine gland in the skull that regulates our hormone), different specialty members came together in a meeting to give our advice and opinion leading to solving the case.
How do you feel your role benefits our patients
Our roles help our patients to stay healthy or improve their quality of life.
