An extremely talented carpenter and a super supportive ward manager are the winners of December’s You Made a Difference awards.
Robert joined the Hotel Services team at CUH in 2015 before applying for a position on the carpentry team, where he is a very valued member. Since then, the team has greatly benefited from Robert’s energy and skills. His typical day is varied and consists of corrective works around the Trust as well as emergency works.
Robert is fire door certificated, essential in keeping our staff and patients safe.
Although Robert has many talents, he has a particular love for engraving and laser works, with which he has made gifts, trinkets and decorations for our staff and younger patients to enjoy. For example, Robert made some incredible wooden decorations for the children on Ward C2 last Hallowe’en. He is learning how to prepare access keys and aspires to add locksmithing to his skills, which will complement his role even further.
Robert shows a real passion to adapt to any circumstance and will do what is necessary to achieve the best results. Well done Rob!
This is reflected in the winning nomination, extracts of which told us:
“People are getting to know Rob now and always email the estates reception to say what a wonderful job he has done and how polite and obliging he always is, nothing is too much trouble for him.”
Robert always goes above and beyond in his job role. Robert will always find an alternative option to solve an issue and is always so positive and happy in his approach. Robert is always professional and shows compassion when attending our ward.
He is a credit to the hospital and very much respected.
