This project is a unique snapshot of how communities perceive and understand their own and each other’s voices. The project will capture how voice, identity and place intersect, and set in motion new ways in which communities might listen differently to better understand each other’s needs.
What does it mean to have a voice within our hospital? How does it feel when a voice is lost?
Composer Hannah Conway and writer Hazel Gould from Sound Voice (opens in a new tab) will be in residence with us 28-29 March 2023 to help our staff, patients and hospital community explore our answers to the questions above through conversation, poetry and songwriting. Our contributions will inspire and inform a unique new piece of sound art, music and spoken word called The Singing Willow which will return to us in the form of an immersive installation later in the year.
Join the project! - Online Session
We welcome anyone who has been a patient, staff member or volunteer at Cambridge University Hospitals to join an online interactive session with the Sound Voice team via Zoom. We will be taking part in fun, accessible conversations and simple writing activities to unpick what part our voices play within our hospital experience.

Please contact CUH arts via email if you would like to join us.
