CUH Arts Festival 2022

In Memoriam installation graphic

Thank you to everyone who was able to come along to CUH Arts Festival 2022. Throughout the week we had live music performances, interactive arts workshops on site and online, and guided tours of our hospital arts collection for our CUH staff. Over 600 people from across the Cambridge Biomedical Campus got stuck in, and more have been able to visit the temporary installation of In Memoriam, a free open-air installation is a space to reflect, contemplate and explore.

Luke Jerram, artist of In Memoriam says: “The aim of this artwork was to act as a safe place for people to visit, contemplate and remember. It’s been humbling to see, hear and experience the vast array of different ways people and communities have used the project to grieve those lost, and pay thanks for those who have worked so hard throughout the pandemic.”

Here are our festival highlights in pictures.

Two participants from the workshop with their mini flags
On Monday best-selling author Hannah Jane Walker held a workshop which invited participants to reflect on the past two years and consider what they wanted to take forwards and to leave behind, writing a collaborative poem and making their own mini flags to sit alongside the large ones of the In Memoriam installation.
Dance artist Filipa running a session at the arts festival
On Tuesday our resident dance artist Filipa Pereira-Stubbs welcomed CBC staff and volunteers to express themselves through movement to music amongst the flags.
One of our staff members celebrating her retirement with Britten Sinfonia
On Wednesday, musicians from Britten Sinfonia performed on The Green & The Gardens and led pop-up sessions in our children's clinic and various wards. Here's one of our paediatric nurses celebrating her retirement in style after 37 years at CUH!
