Richard is a highly experienced plastic surgeon at Addenbrooke’s specialising in skin cancer and facial reconstruction. He is the lead for the Facial Palsy (Bells Palsy) service.
He was, until 2010, the lead plastic surgeon for skin cancer services in Cambridgeshire and until 2021 the lead for head and neck reconstruction at CUH. He helped introduce sentinel lymph node biopsy at Addenbrooke's. He undertakes breast and body surgery, as well as corrective surgery for cosmetic complications.
He trained in the North West before undertaking fellowships in Melbourne and Adelaide in microsurgery, head and neck and facial reconstruction. He also undertook formalised aesthetic surgical training as part of the Aesthetics Fellowship in Chester, Manchester and Liverpool. This involved working with some of the leading aesthetic surgeons in the country and specialising in facial aesthetics, giving him extra insight into facial reconstruction.
